Vice President – Operations Manager
Ian Berg is the manager of the Australian Operations of FM Global. With more than 30 years' experience in insurance, Ian is the chief executive officer for FM Global in Australia, and a director of FM Insurance Co. Ltd. He is also a director of the Insurance Council of Australia. Commencing as a loss prevention engineer he has worked in engineering, business development, marketing, underwriting and management positions for FM Global in Australia, the UK and the United States.
He is a qualified engineer, a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, and a member of the Institution of Engineers and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Operations Vice President – Engineering Manager
Paul May is operations vice president, engineering manager for FM Global's Australia Operations and is based in Melbourne. He is responsible for all engineering activity carried out by field and account engineers who work across Australia and New Zealand.
Paul joined FM Global in the UK in 1994 and has worked in a number of roles, including Field Engineer, Training Specialist, Account Engineer and Group Manager before moving to Australia as Engineering Manager in 2010.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Nottingham University and is a Chartered Professional Engineer and Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland.
Operations Vice President – Client Service Manager
Andrew is operations vice president and client service manager of FM Global’s Australia Operations. His leadership role is to spearhead and manage FM Global’s underwriting, client service and client relationship efforts. With over 16 years in Insurance, Andrew is responsible for ensuring the profit and growth of business written and serviced from FM Global’s operations in Australia and New Zealand.
Prior to his appointment in 2011, Andrew has held various roles at FM Global within underwriting, engineering and training in Australia, UK and the United States.
He is a qualified engineer and holds a bachelor of engineering degree in mechanical engineering as well as a diploma in business administration.
Operations Vice President - Claims Manager
Dennis Gutknecht is Operations Vice President, Claims Manager for Australia Operations. Based in Sydney, NSW, Australia, Dennis is responsible for all aspects of claims management within the operations. This includes management of claims staff for adjustment of losses, client education, subrogation and claims staff management.
Prior to his current appointment in 2013 and since 2001, Dennis managed the Cleveland Claims Operations in the United States. Dennis' previous experience includes Field Adjuster, Senior Account Underwriter and Field Engineer all for FM Global. He joined the organization in 1985 graduating from Cleveland State University with a degree in Industrail Engineering. He has also earned the Charter Property Casualty Underwriting Designation from The American Institute for Charter Property Casualty Underwriters in the United States.
Operations Vice President – Sales Manager
Russell Carson is vice president and business development manager for Asia Pacific Operations. He is responsible for the continual development of new business in the Asia Pacific countries. Having worked for over 30 years for FM Insurance Company Ltd, Russell has a wealth of knowledge of the insurance markets. Previously, Russell held several operational and management positions in engineering, underwriting and marketing, which included assignments in both the UK and Brazil before returning to Australia in 1994.
He is a qualified engineer, a Member of the Institution of Engineers and an Associate of the Australian Insurance Institute.
